Aikido originates from the traditional Japanese martial arts.

Morihei Ueshiba, the father and founder of Aikido, practised traditional budo with dedication and devotion.
Combining his love for martial arts with his strong spiritual beliefs, meditation and times of asceticism, Master Ueshiba called O`Sensei realized that martial arts should not be practised with the intention of harming or hurting others.

Based on his insights and knowledge he developed a clear vision and various techniques to teach people the way of non-competitive togetherness that helps us to mature mentally. This state-of-the-art vision was not only well ahead of its time; in today’s competitive times Aikido teachings are essential to harmonize the energy flow between man and nature.

Aikido is a three syllable word meaning:

- Ai = peace / harmony
- Ki = life energy / vitality
- Do = path / way / exercise

„Through Aikido man is in harmony with life energy and in peace with the universe. “

“Those who follow the path of Aikido follow their hearts. True inner strength originates from a peaceful mind.” (Morihei Ueshiba,1883-1969)

Aikido means being in motion.

It is a playful approach to the dynamics of balance emphasizing the principles of natural movement. Working with partners we learn to melt our mental, physical and spiritual power through well-structured motion. These ritual exercises promote relaxation, concentration and self-confidence.

Aikido exercises the easily flowing mind in contemplation. It is a sensual and all-embracing experience using respiration as a personal guide to increase self-awareness.

The Aikido atmosphere fills the space of our training hall, so called dojo with peaceful tranquillity and serenity. There is no pressure or need of maximum performance. We can indulge in our own rhythm of flowing energy and emotions.

This is the true moment of inspiration when our heart and soul embrace life and begin to sing its most beautiful song.
